Luca Cocchiano is a visual artist from Miami, FL (b. 1997), living and working in Chicago, IL. Luca’s work examines and questions the influence and authority of abstract and material structures (grids, borders, newspapers) we find within culture and society. He takes these structures as a foundational point then reorganizes and reimagines them through human intervention (cut, scratch, burn, etc) as a form of resistance. Through his practice, Luca seeks to spark a conversation about how structures define us, and how we can resist being defined.
Luca is a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA ‘20)
